Think People!

Have you ever listened to yourself?  I mean really listened to all of the things you constantly say?

Don't have any idea what I'm talking about? Go here with me.

Think back to the last time you got really frustrated with someone. A fight, heated discussion, an irritation with a coworker. Remember how frustrated you were.  Then remember all of the things you were thinking.  All of the things you wish you would have said.  All of those thoughts running in your head.  The things you were telling yourself and listening to.

Actually being AWARE of the thoughts we produce, and hear, is where the magic is.

This is the sweet spot where we start understanding who we are and how we think.  This is also where we will be able to find and facilitate the most change in our lives.

Actually listening to the things we think about ourselves and others is where we will find the answers to our habits and the opportunity for change.  In this space is where I learned about my insignificance.

Over the next week take some time to listen to yourself.  A great way to start this process is to do the following when you are feeling strongly in a situation.

First you must start becoming aware of feeling, whatever it is.
Pause
Just listen.
Take the moment or opportunity to write down, text, or email yourself all of the thoughts that are coming to you.

This experience can be pretty weird at first.  You might here yourself say things like.

Ok. this is weird.  Well they.....
I don't know what I'm thinking. I'm just.....
John is so stupid.  Every time he...

These are the things you write down.  Write them down no matter what they are.  Become aware of the thoughts.

Ok.  Now I know all of this sounds a bit "new agey".  Believe me.  I know.  And I may be a little weird but just give it a go.  Give yourself the next week to see what you're thinking.  It might surprise you.
